CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation)

CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) – We all need a constant supply of oxygen to survive. In order to maintain the oxygen supply to the body, a person must be breathing effectively and their heart must be “pumping”.  If either of these functions stop, the brain and heart will deteriorate.  In this instance a first aider will begin CPR which is a combination of giving chest compressions and rescue breaths.  Chest compressions are needed to pump blood around the body and rescue breaths are needed to put more oxygen in.

Asbestos Awareness – Category A

If you have no intention of removing asbestos but work on buildings built or refurbished before the year 2000, asbestos could be present. You will need awareness training so you know how to avoid the risks.
Asbestos awareness training should be given to employees whose work could foreseeably disturb the fabric of a building and expose them to asbestos or who supervise or influence the work.

In particular, it should be given to those workers in the refurbishment, maintenance and allied trades where it is foreseeable that ACMs may become exposed during their work. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Demolition workers
  • Construction workers
  • General maintenance staff
  • Electricians
  • Plumbers
  • Gas fitters
  • Painters and decorators
  • Joiners
  • Shop fitters
  • Plasterers
  • Roofers
  • Heating and ventilation engineers
  • Telecommunication engineers
  • Computer and data installers
  • Fire and burglar alarm installers
  • Architects, building surveyors and other such professionals

This requirement does not apply where the employer can demonstrate that work will only be carried out in or on premises free of ACMs. This information should be available as a result of the assessment made by the dutyholder under the duty to manage in regulation 4 and the duty on the employer to identify the presence of asbestos in regulation 5.

Asbestos awareness will not prepare employees or self-employed contractors to carry out work with ACMs. Awareness training is only intended to help employees avoid carrying out work that will disturb asbestos or ACMs.

If work is planned that will disturb ACMs, further information, instruction and training appropriate to the work being done will be needed.

Course Duration: Half Day

COSHH

Nearly all workers are likely to encounter hazardous substances to some extent. This is because there are many substances which are hazardous to human health, ranging from minor irritants to potential killers, depending on both the type of substance and the exposure levels. These substances can be waste products produced at the end of a process, cleaning products, dust, chemical ingredients etc. The sheer number of hazardous substances in the world means that organisations in different industries will face different hazards according to the products they produce or the services they provide, and so will have a requirement for COSHH training as part of their health and safety training programme. For instance, a restaurant worker will handle cleaning products, but is unlikely to come into contact with solvents and construction-related substances like a builder would, which will again differ from a car mechanic dealing with hydraulic fluid, oil etc.

Our COSHH Awareness training course is aimed at employees who deal with hazardous substances on a daily basis, and will give them a sound understanding of their COSHH responsibilities for controlling these hazardous substances. This training can be tailored to address the Chemicals used by your company.

Course Duration: Half Day

DSE Assessor

Display Screen Equipment – or DSE – has now become such an ever-present part of our day-to-day lives that you could almost be forgiven for not noticing it at all. It delivers news, allows us to complete tasks for work or fun, helps us keep in touch with loved ones, and entertains us.

Display Screen Equipment is the term used for a device or equipment that has an alphanumeric or graphic display screen – the kind that can be found on our laptops, desktops, phones, and tablets. In our modern world, we’re spending more and more time in front of screens.

Although we’re most often stationary when working in front of a screen, long periods spent sitting looking at a screen and using a keyboard can have negative physical implications.
Course Duration: Half Day

AED (Automated External Defibrillator)

AED (Automated External Defibrillator) – If a heart attack (or other cause) results in a cardiac arrest, it is usually because it has interrupted the heart’s electrical impulses.  When this happens the heart “quivers” chaotically instead of beating in a co-ordinated rhythm.  This is called “Ventricular Fibrillation” (VF).  The definitive treatment for Ventricular Fibrillation is to deliver a controlled electric shock through the heart, to stop the “quivering” and enable it to beat normally again.  This is called “Defibrillation” and is achieved by using an AED.  An AED is a safe, reliable, computerised device that can analyse heart rhythms and enable a non-medically qualified rescuer to safely deliver the life saving shock.

Corporate Manslaughter

Corporate Manslaughter training requires employers to ensure that their personnel are given the adequate information and understand the necessity of the workplace training on corporate manslaughter. Our training course will ensure staff members are aware of their duties and responsibilities in the workplace and the repercussions of inadequate employee training. This course provides an introduction into understanding the employer responsibilities and health and safety contribution to keeping the workplace safe.
